Hancock Golf Course, celebrating its 125th anniversary, is one of the oldest golf courses in Texas. Established in 1899 by former Austin mayor Lewis Hancock, it was initially part of the Austin Country Club. The course now operates solely as a walking facility with no pro shop services available. Payments are managed through a pay station operating every day, accepting only credit or debit cards.
Hancock offers a par-35, 9-hole layout featuring scenic views over Waller Creek and historically designed small greens. Known for its unique topography with varying elevations, this course presents challenges suitable for golfers seeking traditional playing experiences. Notable Austin golfer and coach Harvey Penick started his career here, adding to the course's rich heritage.
The green fee grants all-day play, with special discounts for residents and RangeGrinder cardholders from Friday to Sunday and on holidays. All players must start from the first tee on a first-come, first-served basis. Regular maintenance and aerifying schedules are posted to ensure optimal play conditions.
