Pinehurst No. 4

Pinehurst No. 4 is a visually captivating golf course designed by Gil Hanse, echoing the classic elements of Carolina Sandhills golf. The course features vast stretches of exposed sand and native wiregrass that blend seamlessly with the region's rolling terrain, offering players dramatic vistas throughout their rounds. Originally designed by Donald Ross in 1919, Pinehurst No. 4 has undergone several redesigns and restorations by notable architects such as Robert Trent Jones (1973), Rees Jones (1982), Tom Fazio (1999), and most recently Gil Hanse in 2018.

The course, known for its breathtaking scenery and challenging layout, hosted the U.S. Amateur in both 2008 and 2019. Each hole presents unique challenges, with Hole No. 1 being temporarily shortened due to U.S. Open construction until June 30, 2024, and the entire course closed between May 20 and June 27, 2024.
