Utah State Hospital (USH) offers comprehensive mental health treatment in a secure and therapeutic environment. Their mission is to help patients achieve their potential through individualized care, ensuring each person is treated with dignity and respect. USH provides a range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of its patients, organized into adult, pediatric, and forensic treatment programs.

Adult Services:

USH’s adult services include five units dedicated to treating adults with severe mental illnesses. These units offer interventions focused on managing mental health conditions and developing essential life skills for community reintegration. The use of interdisciplinary teams and evidence-based treatments underscores their commitment to high-quality care.

Pediatric Services:

For younger patients, USH operates the Maple unit for children aged 6-12, and the Cedar and Birch units for teenagers aged 12-18. These state-of-the-art facilities provide extensive treatment services combined with educational programs developed in collaboration with the Provo School District.

Forensic Services:

The forensic program caters to court-ordered patients requiring competency restoration and includes six secure inpatient units at the Provo campus. It also manages an outpatient jail-based competency restoration unit in Salt Lake County and offers step-down services across Utah’s correctional facilities.

Additionally, USH encourages family involvement through structured visiting hours tailored to different units’ schedules. Accredited by the Joint Commission, USH is dedicated to recovery-oriented treatment within a serene setting at the foothills of the Wasatch Front, enhancing patient outcomes as they transition back into community living.
